About ACCA South-Eastern Europe
The local office was opened in March 2006 in Bucharest, coinciding with the recruitment of its Head.
The office represents ACCA in Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and Moldova and has occasional responsibilities in surrounding markets that are not under the coverage of another local office.
The members of staff service well over 4000 ACCA members and students in the area of responsibility and try to represent ACCA as well as possible to third parties.
The biggest numbers of members and students are to be found in Romania, which is also a rapidly growing market. The relations with the local Romanian professional associations are very good - with both ACCA has signed cooperation agreements in 2003. Following these agreements, ACCA members have easy access to the qualifications of expert accountant (granted by CECCAR) and financial auditor (granted by CAFR).
Even before the establishment of a local ACCA office, ACCA was very well promoted in the region with the help of Big 4 companies, tuition providers and very enthusiastic ACCA members and students.
Bulgaria and Romania both have active steering committees involved in decisions and making suggestions about various activities.
ACCA South-Eastern Europe aims to:
- raise the profile of ACCA South-Eastern Europe among third interested parties through media campaigns and high level events
- Promote ACCA (the association/qualification itself and our existing members in South-Eastern Europe)
- Provide social and networking opportunities for ACCA members and students
- Use every opportunity to increase the value of the ACCA qualification in the region
The target of this strategy is to:
- Establish ACCA as a valuable and accessible qualification
- Make information about ACCA readily available to anyone interested
- Establish ACCA as a valuable discussion partner and trusted supporter of the local accountancy profession in the region
